Aysegul's Chocolate Merengues
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa

This is a recipe, which we learned from our beloved friend, chef extraordinaire Aysegul.

The merengues are crispy outside, wonderfully soft and chewy inside. They taste sinful yet they are low in calories. The recipe is simple, almost full proof.

Preheat your oven to 300F.

Beat the sugar, egg whites and the cream of tartar for 10 minutes at high speed.

Add the cocoa and beat for a minute at a lower speed.

Use a teaspoon to drop the merengues on your tray.

Bake in a 300F oven for 25 minutes.
